10 signs you’re ready for an Indo surf coaching trip

Are you ready to commit and improve your surfing?

How do you know if you’re ready?  Here we’ve compiled 10 signs that suggest you’re ready to book your surfing retreat in INDO. So grab your board and start packing.  A surf coaching trip to Indonesia could be just what you need to accelerate your surfing and become more confident in the water!

We like to go to places with no crowds

1. I feel “stuck” or that my surfing skills are going backward

Feel like no matter how much you surf, you never get better? Chances are it’s the waves you’re surfing. Better waves equate to better surfing because you have more opportunities to practice takeoffs, turns and tubes. Trust us, it really is that simple.

2. I feel lost in the lineup and am unable to catch lots of waves

If you don’t know where to sit in a lineup then you’re going to miss a lot of waves. With a surf coach by your side in the water though, you can count on insider tips and real-time feedback to ensure you’re always perfectly positioned for the wave of the day.

3. I can popup and perform basic maneuvers, but I struggle to combine it all into one smooth ride

Again, chances are that your local waves are to blame. After just a few longer rides, our past guests report feeling more and more confident in linking their turns. It all comes down to having more time on the wave and longer rides, which as we all know Indonesia offers in spades.

4. I’m unable to surf on a regular basis due to life commitments

Family, work and general life commitments can make surfing with any consistency difficult. By booking an Indo surf coaching trip, you’ll be able to get away from it all and really dedicate yourself to surfing for a week or two with zero interruptions to break your flow.

5. My local waves aren’t challenging me to take that next step

Feel like your local waves are lacking power? Sick of surfing sandy closeouts? Haven’t seen a wave over waist-high in months? Indonesia could be just the ticket. With waves that range from beginner-friendly to expert-level (check our schedule here), there’s something to challenge all skill levels.

6. I feel close to a breakthrough… but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to improve

This is a super frustrating feeling. And to be honest, even pros struggle to put their finger on what’s holding them back.

This is where a set of objective eyes and a video camera help. With a surf coach providing timely advice plus video analysis sessions, you can nail down exactly what’s tripping you up and start to make real progress immediately.

7. I surf better on certain boards and worse on others, but I’m not sure why

Picking the right board is crucial to facilitating fast yet sustainable progress. And we often see people riding the wrong equipment.

If in doubt, bring a few different boards on the trip. You can then eliminate other variables by surfing close-to-perfect waves that break almost mechanically and get an honest feel for what type of board works and what doesn’t.

A longboard retreat could also help refine your style!

8. I noticed how quickly my friends have improved after a recent surf trip

Yep… it happens all the time. Your mate who struggled to get tubed or do a cutback went on one Indo surf trip and is now vastly improved. Could it really be that easy? Well, we won’t say it’s a walk in the park, but we also can’t think of a better way to improve than a surf trip in Indo with an experienced coach.

9. I don’t feel confident when the waves are steep or barrelling

No worries! Once here we’ll ease you into steeper waves. Then, as soon as you feel comfortable, we’ll get you into some tubes. With on-land coaching with Rodrigo and our crew plus plenty of encouragement, you might just score your first barrel ever.

10. I feel like I started late in life and I want to accelerate the learning process

Forget anyone who says you can’t teach an old dog new surf tricks. We’re big believers in the idea that it’s never too late to become a better surfer. And we’ve seen countless guests make huge leaps in their surfing after just a few days with us. As long as you have the right attitude, surfing better after just one trip is possible – no matter how old you may be!

Conclusion

Are you feeling stuck in your surfing progression? Do you struggle to link turns, catch bigger waves or barrel ride? Look no further than an Indonesian surf coaching trip. With world-class waves and experienced coaches, you’ll be well on your way to becoming the surfer you’ve always wanted to be. Check out our Indo surf coaching guide here or book a trip below!
